Support for parents
PARENTS Online is a confidential messaging service where parents and carers can receive emotional support from a trained volunteer with their own lived experiences of parenting. It gives parents/carers space to be open about any problems, issues or anxieties they may be facing.
It is a safe space to chat openly without judgement, about anything. If you’re a parent in need of support, you can use this service to speak to a fellow parent who has been through their own challenges and knows how difficult it can feel. You can talk about anything on your mind, for as long or as short a time as you like.
This service is available Monday to Friday from 6pm till 9pm via the ‘chat’ icon at www.parentsonline.co.uk
Young Minds for Parents
We know parenting isn’t always easy. Although it’s often amazing and rewarding to watch your children grow up, and to help them learn to be independent, it can also be really hard work. It can feel especially hard if your child's mood and behaviour seem different and you're not sure why, or what you can do to help. But you are not alone.
We have lots of practical advice and tips on supporting your child - from how to encourage your child to open up about their feelings to dealing with mental health services. No matter what you and your child are going through, things can get better.
We also have our Parents Helpline who can provide advice and support if you're worried about a child or young person.
You can call us for free on 0808 802 5544 from 9:30am - 4pm, Monday - Friday.
You can access online chat via the website by clicking on the link here
We also provide a range of parenting programmes, some of which will help support parents who have older children/teenagers. They include managing conflict, handling anger and relationship building
Please also use our services directory where we have other voluntary and community services that can help with mental health problems and offer support.
