YEF Towards Sport Programme

About the programme
The Trust is pleased to offer the Towards Sport programme to children and young people aged 10-17 who have been involved in youth offending or are at risk of becoming involved due to low school attendance/poor engagement in education.
The Towards Sport programme, delivered by charity Street Games, is a national randomised control trial to evaluate the impact that sports based interventions can have on children and young people in relation to youth offending.
Teams from within Early Help:
- Family Support,
- Commissioned family support,
- Police Early Help team,
- Youth Service
- Youth Justice Service
can refer young people they work with to the programme. Once the referral is made, they may be selected to receive up to 26 weeks of grass root/local sport provision most suited to their needs completely free of charge. The children will be encouraged and supported to attend sessions with transport provided when required.
Staff working with children and young people who are displaying certain behaviours, have experienced certain challenges or are involved in low level offending and anti-social behaviour can complete a referral form using the link below. A full list of criteria required to be eligible for the programme can be found in the PDF information document. The document also contains further information about the programme and contact details for Bradford’s Street Games Coordinator.
