Disability Access Fund for children in Early Education

What is the Disability Access Fund?

A £910 payment paid each year to your chosen early education and childcare provider to make reasonable adjustments to support your child.

This fund is for children in a funded early education place who have a disability or special educational needs.

How can it help your child?

The funding is to support your childcare provider in making reasonable adjustments that will benefit your child and the setting as a whole. Please discuss with the childcare provider how they will use the money.

If your child:

  • attends more than one setting, you will need to choose which childcare provider should receive the funding.
  • leaves the childcare place and the funding for the year is paid, the provider will not have to pay back any money.
  • leaves and goes to a new provider, they will not receive a further Disability Access Fund payment until the following year.

Who can receive the funding?

To apply for the funding your child needs to:

  • receive funded early education hours at a childcare provider in Bradford
  • receive Disability Living Allowance.

Do not apply for this fund if:

  • your child is four years old and in a primary school reception class.
  • goes to a childcare provider that is not in the Bradford Council area. If you are not sure please ask your childcare provider, you must then apply to that council.  For example, you live in Menston and your childcare is in Guiseley. Guiseley is in the Leeds district so you should apply for the fund through Leeds City Council website.

How will the funding be paid?

A £910 payment will be made directly to your chosen childcare provider.

If your child attends more than one setting, you will need to choose which childcare provider should receive the funding.

To apply you will need to provide proof that your child has Disability Living Allowance. This will mean sharing  the award letter with us.
