Gypsy and Travellers Awareness Session with Leeds GATE
Increase Your Knowledge and Confidence When Working with Gypsy and Traveller Communities
Professionals working with children, young people and families are invited to attend a free awareness session introducing Leeds GATE, our Early Help commissioned Gypsy and Traveller support service.
These sessions are designed for practitioners delivering Early Help and family support services and will help increase understanding of Gypsy and Traveller communities, their experiences, and the barriers they may face when accessing services.
What You Will Learn

Develop a greater understanding of Gypsy and Traveller communities and cultures.
Increase your awareness of the challenges and inequalities that some families may experience.
Learn about the range of support available through Leeds GATE.
Understand how Leeds GATE can work alongside professionals to improve outcomes for children, young people and families.
Explore referral pathways and opportunities for partnership working.
About Leeds GATE
Leeds GATE is a commissioned service that provides specialist support to Gypsy and Traveller communities. The service works with families to help them access services, overcome barriers and improve well-being, while also supporting professionals through advice, guidance and consultation.
Whether you are already working with Gypsy and Traveller families or would like to improve your knowledge and practice, this training will help you better understand the community and how Leeds GATE can support your work.
