HENRY Raise, Engage, Refer (RER) Training

Supporting practitioners to have confident, effective conversations with families

  • Do you want to feel more confident starting conversations about family lifestyle, nutrition or emotional wellbeing?
  • Do you want to ensure more families receive the right support at the right time?
  • Do you want to strengthen your skills in engaging parents about their child's health?
  • Do you want to learn how to approach sensitive topics without families feeling judged?

This training equips health visitors, early years practitioners, school nurses, family support workers and other professionals with the skills and confidence to engage families in meaningful conversations about their children's health and wellbeing.

What the training covers

  • Developing confidence in raising conversations about healthy lifestyle habits.
  • Understanding the local HENRY offer and how it can support families.
  • Recognising challenges families face in making changes and responding supportively.
  • Building motivation to help parents take the next step in accessing support.
  • Signposting and referrals, ensuring families access HENRY at the right time.
  • Adopting the HENRY approach to make discussions empowering and non-judgmental.

Feedback from a HENRY practitioner - 'I finally feel like I know how to have these conversations with parents! This will make such a difference for them and their children'.
