King's Trust (for 16-30s)

If you're 16 to 30 and want to gain experience, skills, training and confidence to help you into work, the King's Trust might be able to help.

Get Started courses

With Get Started you can try out a new activity that will help you build your skills – all with support from inspirational experts. Working with a group of like-minded people, you'll discover your strengths, overcome challenges and grow your confidence.

You can choose from Get Started courses on a range of interesting topics:

  • Sport: including football, boxing, outdoor activities, and health and fitness
  • Arts: including fashion, hair and beauty, art, film and photography, dance, drama, nail art, music, and creative media
  • Community skills: including animal care, cooking, emergency response, and nature and conservation

You'll receive one-to-one support to make a plan for what you’d like to do after the course finishes. We'll work with you to set out clear next steps towards achieving your goals. And you'll receive up to three months' support after the programme to help you take those steps!

Get Ready courses

Get Ready courses can give you a taste of the exciting careers available in growing and evolving industries and start building in-demand skills. Here's what you'll gain by taking part:

  • Understand the opportunities available in the career area you're interested in – from coding to conservation. And find out how you can access them by developing sought-after industry skills.
  • Build your strengths in teamwork, problem-solving, communication and other skills you'll need to succeed.
  • Meet like-minded people, grow your confidence, and plan steps towards achieving your goals.

Some courses will connect you with current job and training opportunities.

Get Into courses

Get Into courses are designed to support you to build the skills and experience you need for work. Here's what you'll gain by taking part:

  • In-demand, practical skills related to your career area of choice
  • Transferable skills that are crucial to success in any work environment, such as teamwork, problem-solving and communication
  • Valuable, relevant work experience or practical experience to demonstrate to potential employers
  • One-to-one support to grow in confidence and establish a clear plan for achieving your goals
  • Access to job opportunities with our extensive network of employer partners

When you finish the course, you'll be supported in taking your next steps, whether that's finding employment, securing an apprenticeship, or completing training for further qualifications. You'll benefit from mentoring for up to 6 months to help you achieve your goals.

Development Awards

Development Awards are small grants for young people who need financial support to access education, employment, training, or structured volunteering.

The amount of each award depends on your unique needs, future career goals, and personal development plans. Awards are available from £10 right up to a maximum of £500.

If you're aged 16 to 30 and not currently working or in education, you could be eligible.

Team personal development course

The King's Trust's Team course can help you gain valuable skills and experience, earn a qualification, and boost your confidence.

Here’s what you’ll get out of the Team programme:

  • Take part in an action-packed week of activities, which could be a residential trip, where you’ll get to know the other people in your team.
  • Make a positive difference in your community by working together on a group project.
  • Get two weeks’ work experience in a profession or organisation that interests you.
  • Earn a nationally recognised qualification, and develop your English, maths, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Receive support to write a standout CV, and learn how to impress in an interview.
