Home-Start Bradford Volunteer Preparation Course (Hybrid)

If you would like to become a home-visiting volunteer supporting families in the Better Start Bradford area, this is your chance!

Then volunteering with Home-Start Bradford District could be the start of a fabulous new journey for you.

Their new hybrid (online/in-person mix) volunteer preparation course starts on Wednesday 17 April 2024 and will run for seven weeks on Wednesdays as follows:

Week 1 - 17th April (face to face) (6-9pm)
Week 2 - 24 April (online) (6-8.30pm)
Week 3 - 1 May (online) (6-8.30pm)
Week 4 - 8 May (online) (6-8.30pm)
Week 5 - 15 May (online) (6-8.30pm)
Week 6 - 22 May (face to face) (6-9pm)
Week 7 - 5 June (face to face) (6-9pm)

Face-to-Face sessions will be at The Thornbury Centre, 79 Leeds Old Rd, Bradford, BD3 8JX

The schedule includes:

  • Welcome, Introduction and role
  • Values & attitudes; Communication
  • Supporting parents & meeting the needs of children
  • Confidentiality and diary sheets
  • Safeguarding children
Each volunteer will need to have completed an application form (including providing contact details to obtain two references) had an interview and provided documents for a DBS check.
