BEACON (Bradford Ecumenical Asylum Concern)

BEACON provides hospitality and practical support to asylum seekers in Bradford and the surrounding area




BEACON run four projects to assist asylum seekers:

McKenzie Friends - volunteers provide legal support to asylum seekers who do not have access to legal representation
CHAT Phoenix House - refreshments, a listening ear and signposting for people waiting for hearings at Phoenix House Immigration and Asylum Tribunal Hearing Centre in Bradford on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings
CHAT English Club - a free club for asylum seekers, refugees and all non-native English speakers to practise their English with native speakers, and learn through fun interactive activities. Free tea, coffee and snacks are provided. Classes run every Wednesday from 10am-12pm at Touchstone (4 Easby Road, BD7 1QX).
Hosting Project - accommodation for destitute asylum seekers in volunteers' homes
