34 Claro Road is our residential care home for younger adults, aged 18-65, with physical disabilities. We are experienced in providing support to people with a range of physical disabilities.
The home is situated very conveniently for local amenities and access to the town centre. Our main focus is to achieve a positive outcome for the people that live there. We do this by providing training in the skills required to live independently, with the end outcome being that people are ready and confident to move into the community. We aim to enable people to move on within two years of coming to us, but this can sometimes take more or less time.
Claro Road provides accommodation and training for twenty people, and is divided into two ten person units. All of the individual rooms have en-suite wet rooms, contemporary furnishings and mobility or daily living equipment as required including ceiling tracked hoists. Everyone is encouraged to personalise their rooms as they wish.
The communal lounges and dining rooms are spacious and feel light and airy. Each unit has a fully accessible kitchen where customers plan and prepare meals with the assistance of staff where required. As people feel ready to move into independent living, they can spend some time in our two person training flat where they can live independently but with the knowledge that the staff are available if needed. The centre has Wi-Fi throughout, and each room has access to Freeview television (subject to personal equipment).
Every customer has an agreed Individual Plan which shows any support or personal care needs, how they wish to spend their days and the desired outcomes they wish to achieve. Customers can attend college, training, leisure activities and volunteering and are supported at all times when doing so. We can provide staff support if needed and in some cases we will fund external training.
The people living at Claro Road are fully involved in the running of their home. They plan, shop and cook meals, they are involved in staff interviews and hold regular meetings to discuss any issues.
All of our staff are fully trained in all of the skills they need to work with and support customers. We make sure that staff training is up to date and relevant to the needs of those that live with us. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and an approved provider of a number of local authorities including North Yorkshire.
