Courses throughout the Bradford District!

Who is this course for?

Even if it's not your first time, having a new baby is a big change and can be really challenging for parents and carers. Are you:

  • struggling to connect with your baby?
  • finding it difficult to calm your baby?
  • feeling worried or sad?

If the answer is yes, then baby massage can help to:

  • strengthen your bond with your baby using soothing touch.
  • notice more of what baby is trying to tell you.
  • boost your self-esteem and confidence in parenting.
  • enhance your understanding of baby’s development.
  • encourage deeper sleep for baby.
  • relieve wind, colic, and constipation for baby.
  • develop your baby's muscle tone and co-ordination.

Who, when, where?

The courses are delivered by our friendly Family Hub staff who are trained in baby massage through the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM).

The courses are run over 5 weeks and you will need to be able to attend each session. They are delivered all across the district, mainly in family hubs and other venues in the community.

See the lists below about when and where the baby massage courses are running. You don't need to attend a venue close to where you live, if you're able to travel that's fine by us.

Things to be aware of

Just a few things to note:

  • Your baby will need to be under 6 months old and have had their 6 to 8 week check up with the health visitor by the time you attend.
  • The sessions are run in small groups of around 6-8 adults and 6-8 babies. For this reason we can only allow one parent or carer with their baby. The only exception is for parents/carers of twins/multiples.
  • Baby massage courses are run as a closed group over 5 weeks. You will need to be available to attend all 5 sessions of the group and only those with a confirmed place will be able to attend.
  • Please only come to a group if we have called you and accepted you onto the course. Unfortunately if people do just turn up they wont be allowed to join in.
