Auditions: Chorus aged 60+ for new multimedia theatre piece on ageing
509 Arts will be back at the Loading Bay this autumn with a big new show commissioned by Bradford 2025. It’s still very much under wraps, but we can tell you it’s about the experience and wonder of ageing, with storytelling, music, projections and a community chorus of people aged over 60.
Building on the award winning success of Calderland and the Batley Variations, the new show will be composed by Richard Taylor (two UK Theatre Awards, two RPS Awards and a WhatsOnStage Best Musical Award); with Mike Kenny (Olivier for the Railway Children) and Em Whitfield Brooks (Chorus Director, Ryedale Festival Community Opera, Hull Freedom Chorus).
We are recruiting for the Chorus now! Could you be one of our singers?
Come along to one of our informal audition workshops on:
Saturday 3rd May 10:30-12:30pm
Thursday 8th May 1:30-3:30pm
They will take place at Kala Sangam’s temporary home in the centre of Bradford at Bank House, 41 Bank St, Bradford BD1 1RD. If you are interested, please do come along to one of the sessions and find out more about the show. There will be singing! And biscuits!
There will be a break from rehearsals in August and we will start again in September.
All workshops and rehearsals will take place at Kala Sangam – Bank House, 41 Bank St, Bradford BD1 1RD.
There will be up to 10 performances of the show at the Loading Bay from Friday 3rd October – Sunday 12th October.
